Point
City Information:
Lighthouse Point is a city
in Broward County, Florida.
The city was named for the
Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse,
which ironically isn't within
the city limits but in Hillsboro
Beach. As of 2004, the population
estimated by the U.S. Census
Bureau is 11,212. The city
is bordered
by the intracoastal on the
east and Federal Hwy on the
west, and has
18
miles of waterways.
Incorporated in 1956, Lighthouse
Point is a small town that
is over 95% developed. It’s
a close knit family community
with a small town feel. Most
homes fall into the upper-medium
and top-price range and over
the last decade the rate of
tearing down homes to build
larger ones has increased
dramatically. The business
areas have also been undergoing
renovation, with the newly
developed Beacon Light Plaza
being the cornerstone of its
business district on the south
end of the city.
